I came across this fascinating (and horrifying) article today about a math genius who hacked the OkCupid algorithm “to find true love”. As a digital strategist and numbers nerd I had to read it. I even bookmarked it so I could cozy up with the article over tea when I got home.
What this guy does to “hack” the algorithm proves definitively that the smartest people in the world, are the dumbest in relationships.
Here’s the short version of his story. After 9 months of being single, and working long hours as a practical mathematician, he decided to use his skills to try and optimize his ability to identify good matches using the OkCupid algorithm and work it to his advantage.
