When I was an awkward 9 year old I reached what I considered the pinnacle of my youth – I was chosen from all the girls in my ballet class to be the first one to work en pointe. I was so anxious and for the first few weeks I worked and worked and worked on my technique – ripping apart my feet while I teetered around stressing my ankles.
